Welcome to Bristol Lodge #970 of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the United States of America.
The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks was founded in 1868 in the city of New York. Its declared purposes are to practice its four cardinal virtues, Charity, Justice, Brotherly Love, and Fidelity; to promote the welfare and enhance the happiness of its members; to quicken the spirit of American patriotism; and to cultivate good fellowship.
The Order of Elks therefore seeks to draw only those with a deep spirit of patriotic loyalty and devotion; who recognize the obligations of human brotherhood; and who desire to endeavor to feed the hungry, to shelter the homeless, to relieve those in distress, and to prove themselves true friends to all in need.
With such a membership the Order has grown into a great and powerful fraternity, whose public and patriotic services have won for it a high place in national esteem.
In 125 years the Order of Elks has grown to over a million members and over 2000 lodges with recorded expenditures for charitable, educational community and patriotic purposes of $1.4 billion dollars.
Bristol Lodge #970 was chartered May 25, 1905. We are proud to have helped to further the principles of Elkdom. We love our country, respect our neighbors and enjoy life. We welcome all visitors. Please stop in and see us.
